The Dentists

On qualifying Richard joined the Royal Navy and served for five years. The highlight was spending seven months at sea as the Fleet Dental Surgeon on deployment to the Far East.


Richard purchased the Wells Practice in April 1985. He was appointed Regional Dental Adviser for BUPA Dental in May 1994 and accredited in January 1995.

He was then appointed as a Clinical Assessor for BUPA Dental in February 1995. He is married to Sue, our Practice Manager, and has two grownup children.

Richard has continued to obtain further post graduate qualifications:

Diploma in General Dental Practice (1993).

Diploma in Postgraduate Dental Studies (1994)

License in Dental Homeopathy in 2004

Richard, Christine, John & Matt

 

Richard has become excited by the developments in non surgical facial aesthetics and together with his hygienist Jane, has trained extensively with Dr Bob Khanna and other specialists in London and is now qualified to offer Botox and other facial rejuvenation treatments.



 

Mr. John Lover

John graduated from Bristol in 1970 and joined the army. During 27 years of military service he travelled extensively including spending two years at William Beaumont Army Medical Centre in Texas where he first developed an interest in Endodontics. He later studied at the Eastman Institute in London, gaining the Master of Science in Conservative Dentistry. He completed a research project on ultrasonic endodontic files.


John moved to Wells in 1996 and was admitted to the specialist Register in Endodontics in 2000 whilst also holding a part time post with the Ministry of Defence until May 2007.


Currently he works 3 days a week here at Rock house as a Specialist Endodontist, carrying out root canal treatment on our own patients and patients referred from colleagues throughout the West of England.

On Thursdays John travels to Bristol to supervise and teach senior dental students during their clinical sessions when they treat patients in the dental hospital.



Mrs. Christine Prince

Qualified as a dentist with a special interset in Orthodontics

 

Christine worked in a general dental practice in the Bristol area for 20 years before joining Rock House in 2005. She is married with a young son.

Post graduate qualification: Diploma in Post-graduate Dental Studies(1998). Subjects studied: Periodontology (gum health) Orthodontics (braces) & Children's Dentistry. In the early 90's she had a 3 years placement at the Orthodontic Department of Bristol Dental Hospital learning how to treat patients with fixed braces. Christine is interested in caring for whole families and nervous patients with a preventative approach to dentistry. She enjoys helping her patients achieve healthy mouths and gain confidence in undergoing dental treatment . She appreciates the team approach at Rock House, sharing the patient care with her colleagues who all have different skills and interests. Christine works 3 days a week at Rock House as well as 2 days at Wells Orthodontics.



Mr Matthew Sica

Matthew, who many of you have already met, as he had been working with us on Saturday mornings for the past 2 years, has taken over the care of Ben’s patients.  Matthew qualified from Bristol and has recently been based in Bristol and surrounding counties. He held an honorary position at Bristol Dental Hospital in the Oral Surgery department and is currently working towards an advanced course in restorative dentistry.  Next he plans to enroll on an MSC Course. Matthew’s continued enthusiasm, passion for dentistry and compassion he has  shown to his patients has been well received

 

 

The Hygienists

Mrs. Jane Ellis

Jane qualified as a Dental Therapist in London in 1973 at New Cross Hospital (Guys) also qualifying as a Health Education Officer. She then returned to Bristol to qualify as a Dental Hygienist (University of Bristol) in 1978. Jane has trained with Dr Bob Khanna and other specialists in London and is qualified to offer patients Botox and other facial rejuvenation treatments including chemical peels. Jane has been working with the Rock House team for 23 years.


Sara & Jane

Mrs. Sara Kendall

 

Member of the British Dental Therapist & Hygienist Association


Sara qualified as a Dental Hygienist in 1987 from Bristol Dental Hospital, University of Bristol. In 2009 she trained in smoking cessation counselling.

Sara has had success in this smoking cessation counselling during 2010 and would love to help more people give up smoking during 2011.

 

 

Miss Maya Ringshall

 

B.D.S. (Bristol) MFDS RCS(Eng)

 

Maya qualified as a dentist in 2001 and worked in both general and hospital dentistry until 2007. Maya achieved her Membership of the Faculty of Dental surgeons during her time as a senior house officer at Bristol Dental Hospital in 2004 and developed an interest in periodontal disease. At present she enjoys working as a hygienist here on Saturdays.

 

The Nurses

Mrs Teresa Davies


Teresa joined us in 1986 as a trainee dental nurse and has worked with us ever since! She has obtained her certificate in oral health education and dental radiography. Terasa is currently working partime and has a daughter.

 


Miss Helen Makin


Helen joined our team in June 1997 . She trained as a dental nurse, obtaining her qualification in 2002. Subsequently she has obtained qualifications in dental radiography and oral health education.



The Nurses

Miss Rachel Hall


Rachel joined our nursing team in 2004. Now a qualified dental nurse, she has returned from maturnity leave to work with us part time.

Mrs Julia Melly


Julia joined our team in October 2007 after her move from her previous practice in Essex with her two sons. Julia has obtained qualifications in dental radiography since working with us.

 

Mrs Lorraine Webb


Lorraine joined our team in November 2008 after moving from her previous practice in Shepton Mallet. Lorraine has attended a recent coures on prevention of infections and has is now our lead nurse in infection control.

 

Miss Sarah Raheem


Sarah joined our team in November 2008 to work on Saturdays after enjoying her week of work experience here. Sarah works here on her college day off and during her holidays. Sarah left us in September to go to university to read general nursing.

 

Miss Jess Beasley


Jess joined us last year as our trainee dental nurse and attends college one day a week. Jess is a lively member of the team, her enthusiasm and infectious smile is great for everyone!


Managers

Mrs Sue Leworthy


Sue is Richard's wife and since 1993 has been working in the practice helping nursing and administraton. In 1993 this became more formalised when she obtained the Diploma in Dental Practice Management. In 2007 Sue registered with the General Dental council as a dental nurse. Sue manages our advanced dental computer software and has overall mangement responsibility. She is helped by Carol our Office Manager

 

Mrs Carol Govier


Carol joined our team in March 1994 as a dental nurse. Now Carol likes to work on our reception and has gained a wealth of knowledge attending courses and events. She is now our Office Manager ensuring the smooth running and efficiency of our staff and practice.

Receptionists

Mrs Veronica Pritchard


Veronica joined our team January 1991and over the years has greeted and helped many patients as they come into the practice. She has also helped train and nuture our newest and youngest staff members.

 

Miss Jackie Doyle


Jackie joined our team in Febuary this year. She actually worked for us when we had a practice in Street many years ago. When Jackie heard of a position coming vacant she asked if she could join us.  Jackie may look very familiar to many of you; well I think it may be because she is Carol’s (our Office Manager) sister! Jackie’s role will include working on reception and working in the sterilisation room.

 

Mrs Viv Field


Viv joined us March 1995 to join our reception team. Viv's efficiency helps to ensure all our patients are reminded of their future appointments. She also enjoys helping and advising our patients. Viv has recently changed her working week from working 3 days a week to being on our ‘bank team’. We are very grateful for her offering to continue with us to cover holidays and other ad hoc busy days.

 

 

Mrs Mel McGregor


Mel joined our team in November 2009 after her move from her previous practice. Mel is a qualified dental nurse and enjoys working on our reception; helping and advising our patients. She has also changed her working week from part time to being on our ‘bank team’
