Dental Treatment
At Rock House Dental Practice, we will arrange a regular check-up so that any potential problems are identified early and appropriate treatment and preventative care is carried out.

We place emphasis on prevention and can offer diet, oral hygiene and fluoride advice.
The general treatments we offer include white fillings, silver fillings, veneers, inlays , onlays, crowns, and bridges. These are all ways of repairing teeth and replacing missing teeth.

We work with an excellent laboratory in Langport to produce restorations that match your surrounding teeth.
When you register with us, we will try to ensure you are always seen by the same dentist for all routine appointments. We are currently accepting new patients appointments with Matthew Sica, Hannah Pepper, Neil Dibden and Joanne Parry.

Hannah Pepper provides the oral surgery services at Rock House Dental Practice. She has gained a reputation for her kind and gentle treatment of patients, and also offers sedation services for those who are anxious about treatment.

Hannah is a dentist and a qualified doctor who has worked in oral surgery in a hospital environment since 1999 as a house officer, a registrar and a specialty doctor. She has extensive surgical experience including trauma surgery, oncology and cleft lip and palate.

Hannah has worked with all age groups and often takes referrals from other practices.
Dental Treatment
Joanne Parry has an MSc in Conservative Dentistry and a specialist interest in endodontics (root canal treatment). She takes external referrals for this service and has the expertise, experience and up-to-date equipment to give the best and most effective and successful treatment possible.

Root canal treatment – sometimes known as “root filling” or just “root canal” – is required when the inside part of a tooth has become contaminated with bacteria. When bacteria get into the central part of the tooth the nerve (pulp) which is contained in this area will die and become infected. This may happen due to tooth decay, a leaking filling or a crack/fracture.

During a root canal treatment the aim of the treatment is to clean out the tooth and to disinfect it, allowing the space remaining to be filled with a rubber based material called gutta-percha.

Under local anaesthetic, the dentist will make an opening to find the canals within the tooth and begin the highly skilled process of shaping using hand and rotary instruments. The tooth is cleaned and disinfected, and then sealed. A successful root canal treatment means there is no need for the only alternative treatment, which is tooth removal.
Dental Treatment
Rock House Dental Practice is fortunate to be able to offer the services of Scott Wetton, a dentist with a specialist interest in periodontics who has been taking referrals for periodontics for over 10 years.

Periodontics is the treatment of gum disease (gingivitis or periodontitis).
The bacteria in plaque can result in gingivitis: infection and inflammation of gums that can leave them looking red, and cause them to bleed when brushing.

Treatment may include deep gum cleaning, the use of antibiotics into the gum, or in some cases surgery to access harder-to-clean areas.
The build-up of plaque on teeth leads to calculus formation: hardened, calcified plaque that cannot be removed using a toothbrush.
Regular visits to the hygienist will help to maintain gingival health, but unfortunately in some case gingivitis can progress to periodontal disease.
This disease can cause the loss of supporting bone around the teeth, which in severe cases can lead to tooth loss.

Maintenance after gum disease treatment is crucial, and Scott is supported by our excellent team of hygienists.
Dental Treatment
Our patients have the benefit of a technician with decades of experience: Ben Taylor works in our on-site dental laboratory and works closely with Neil Dibden and Ella Hodgson.

The team works with patients to advise how the teeth will be set up, taking into account factors such as regular/irregular gum contouring, specialist guidance when choosing the mould, and the make and shade of tooth to match hair colour, complexion and facial characteristics.

A good set of false teeth can be life-transforming. Being able to eat and speak with confidence and comfort can make all the difference. A well-made denture can help support facial tissues and reduce premature ageing appearance.

If you would like to discuss with Neil or Ella how a new denture could improve your quality of life, please contact our team to arrange an appointment.
Dental Treatment
Regular hygiene visits play an important role in maintaining oral health and preventing tooth loss.
We are supported by an excellent team of hygienists, all with many years’ experience and training. They will support maintaining your oral hygiene with regular scale and polish treatments to remove staining, soft and hard deposits on your teeth.
Hygienists will also provide specific advice to improve oral hygiene and demonstrate oral hygiene techniques to help you look after your teeth and gums when you brush and floss at home.
Dental Treatment
It's important for children to develop a positive attitude to oral health from an early age.

We support our younger patients in developing excellent oral hygiene and diet habits. We provide a friendly and relaxed environment for children, and allow children to progress at the speed which is suitable for the child.

We always try to make sure children see the same dentist so they can develop a positive relationship with the dental team.

For anxious children who may be afraid of visiting the dentist, we can also offer gas and air sedation on a private basis.
Dental Treatment
Almost one person in three is a snorer. Among older people, as many as 60% of men and 40% of women snore. The snoring sounds they make each night can be anything from a slight rattle to a loud sawing noise that can reach up to 90 decibels! The snorers themselves are often completely unaware of it.

When a person sleeps on their back, relaxation of the muscles can cause the tongue to fall back into the throat and constrict the airway. This creates a stronger air current which sets the uvula at the back of the throat vibrating, and that leads to irritating snoring noises.
Sleepwell® is a mandibular advancement device. It works by pushing the lower jaw (mandible) slightly forward. This prevents the tongue from falling back into the throat and reduces snoring by up to 100%.

It has the advantages of involving no medicine, no side effects, no surgery and uses biocompatible materials.

The device is inserted in the evening before going to sleep and removed again after getting up.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth or to support dentures, and are commonly made of light and strong titanium, the same metal used to make spacecraft. They are designed to be placed directly into the jaw and to look and feel just like a real tooth.

Implants can also be used to provide a stable foundation that can give better retention for dentures.

At Rock House Dental Practice, dental implants are performed by Scott Wetton, Hannah Pepper and Grant Newman. All our implant dentists have many years experience and hold diplomas in implantology.
We place Straumann and Nobel dental implants, and offer both types of implant: bone-level and tissue-level. We can discuss with you which type is best suited to your needs.

At your initial assessment your dentist will assess your mouth and make sure that dental implants are the correct solution for you.

Tooth Whitening
Who doesn't want whiter teeth? Boutique Whitening provides a safe, effective way to enhance your smile.
Utilising the highest quality whitening gel, you can be assured of great results, and a brighter, whiter smile. The treatment is likely to be both more effective and much less harmful than the over-use of over-the-counter products.

We produce individualised customised trays which you use at home to achieve the tooth shade you wish. This can be maintained with top ups for a reasonable price.

Sedation
Hannah Pepper carries out intravenous and inhalation sedation with the support of qualified dental-sedation nurses. Hannah has been using sedation in hospital and in primary care since 2000 and is pleased to be able to continue this service at Rock House Dental Practice.

Our primary concern is for patient comfort and the provision of pain and anxiety-free oral surgery and dentistry. Our team are highly competent in the field of dentistry and endeavour to give our patients the highest levels of confidence and trust in our work.

However, we understand that for many people, visiting the dentist can be an anxious experience. We are sympathetic to these feelings and take a particular interest in the treatment of nervous patients.

If you are anxious or nervous at the thought of treatment, we would like to introduce you to the sedation service we offer.
Sedation is where medication is used to safely, effectively and predictably reduce anxiety and stress in dentistry. We provide inhalation sedation (gas and air), and intravenous sedation (Midazolam).

Hannah Pepper is a dentist and a qualified doctor, and will be happy to discuss your requirements. All our visits are confidential and there is no pressure to proceed with treatment.
Radiology
Rock House Dental Practice is very proud to be one of the few practices in the south west with a cone beam CT. For many years, dentistry has relied on 2-dimension scanning which is limited in terms of the amount of information it can provide.
Cone beam CT scans the jaw using the lowest radiation dose available to create a three-dimensional computer model. This provides an invaluable diagnostic tool.
Cone beam CT is used to aid procedures such as dental implants, endodontics, and surgical tooth extraction.
We take referrals from other practices for this service.
Our cone beam CT scans are analysed to obtain the maximum information for diagnostic purposes by Rebecca Davies, a highly experienced consultant dental radiologist.
Radiology
We have a state-of-the-art OPG (orthopantomogram) machine which takes two-dimensional images of both upper and lower jaws. This can be used to diagnose pathology in the teeth, bone, sinuses, and temporomandibular joints.

Our machine minimises the radiation dose by taking sectional images of the areas of interest where possible, and using the latest x-ray scanning technology.

We take referrals from other practices for this service.
Facial Aesthetics
We provide a non-surgical option for those who seek to improve their facial aesthetic and maintain the appearance of their skin.
As we age, our skin changes in a number of ways: one of the most noticeable is the formation of wrinkles, laughter lines and worry lines.
The use of purified botulinum toxin can be used to reduce these lines. The results are very subtle and aim to enhance the natural features of your appearance, rather than dramatically change it.

Botulinum toxin can be used to treat the upper face: above the nose, the forehead, and the corners of the eyes. It can also be used to treat the effects of ageing in the lower face and the neck.
Botulinum toxin is also effective for treating other conditions including temporomandibular joint dysfunction, excessive sweating, improving a gummy smile, and for facial recontouring.

Facial Aesthetics
The use of dermal fillers is effective in the treatment of lines and wrinkles. The procedure involves a series of tiny injections into key areas of the face.

We use fillers from the Juvaderm range, which contain hyaluronic acid to plump out and soften the lines around the mouth and cheeks, and add a greater fullness to the lips.

The effects of Juvaderm are reversible, and its degree of malleability means that there is no risk of a “trout pout”, which is caused by a reaction to some of the inferior treatments used by practitioners in the past. The results are effective, safe and subtle.
Fillers are also used to provide non-surgical face lifts, and mid-face rejuvenation.

Facial Aesthetics
At Rock House Dental Practice we offer genuine Dermaroller micro needling treatment.

Skin micro needling is a non-chemical skin rejuvenation technique which triggers collagen and elastin formation and reduces fine lines and wrinkles.
It is also effective in the treatment of facial scarring caused by acne.
For best results the treatment is repeated 3 times. It is non-invasive and suitable for most skin types.
